Because the Middle East hasn't had an Enlightenment Era followed by a Feminist era like the West experienced.

Well my friend, you ARE unaware. First of all, woman and man in Islam are not just equal in the plain sense (or nonsense) that most feminists think of. They have a very complimentary role. In many instances, woman are more respected and given privileges. They are not burdened with the responsibility of earning for the family, while they have all the right to earn money, but not required to bear the expenses of the family as a man is supposed to be.
What will you call this? Bias against the men?
Secondly, for zena, to prove the crime, there should be four persons as witnesses. And you can easily understand that zena are not committed in the open. So, it is very hard to prove the crime. Would you not agree?
AND, in the case of punishment, it IS EQUAL for both man and woman.
You are so very unaware. Sorry!!

In Islam, the crime for zena is the same for both a man and a woman. It says so in the Quran, in Surat Nur, the first page.
The very simple truth is that women are not slaves in Islam. Yes, the roles of the man and the woman differ, and yes the husband is responsible for his wife, but she is not a slave in any manner.

they are not- study more
woman are in fact almost superior to men and are considered the more attracive and more respected gender
in the Quran, wherever a man is mentioned a woman is equally mentioned
i dont know where it says that a man doesnt have to b killed for zena, im pretty sure he does- but either way both genders must seeek repentence from God
and btw many societies say they are based of Islam, but more than half of their doings are tradition and culture- so please do not confuse the two. wherever this is happening, if what u are saying is correct on all terms, than i completly agree and say this is sooo unfair and unjust and immoral. but then again, look an the American society.
cuz i dont knw if u havent noticed, but the way I see it, its Christianity that inferiorizes women.
i meanm they are indeirectly expected to look "sexy". the beautiful ones are the ones who show their bodies the best.
There is a code of society one is expected to follow.
Women are nothing more than sex objects and toys.
The more skin u show, the higher rank you are. You are obliged to starve yourself to be perfect. They are making themselves so unbleievably easy, and this is the guys' dream. They won- they created this world of nudity and they couldn't be happier. And us woman, like idoits are following right after and listening to them.
p.s. what country u from?

Salam Yes based on the Qur'an,you are right that a man can have intercourse with his female slave without having to marry her This case is not included in zina or adultery because his female slave belongs to him and if she was a wife of kafir man,she is recognized as devorced woman or a widow. I agree with you that zina is strictly forbidden in Islam.Your opinion is right that if the female s;ave has the man's child, shje and her child will be automatically become free. Now there is no slave at all..alhamdulillah.But the new form of slavery emerge through bad and cruel treatment of the employers to their female servants

It is the backward cultures and not Islam. In Islam punishment for crimes is same for men and women. You cannot blame such ridiculous laws for example women cannot drive which is enforced by Saudi Arabia on Islam. Things are changing for the better at most places although the pace can definitely pick up!

What you are explaining sounds more like cultural practices than religious ones. Many Islamic countries are not as you describe, and Islam actually gives women MANY rights. If you have studied Islam and law, you should know this.

Its culture not religion. In Islam, i studied and read the quran, a women is equal to a man. In Pakistan, I think thats where u are, the zina law is unlawful if women are the only one who are being accounted for it. Its regional culture not religion, like Hindus burning women. Islam gives women full rights from work, voting, marriage, etc. People are just following culture.
Jan (two answers below me) That is not true. Islamically a women does not have to follow every single thing her husband says she must do, If it is denying her her rights.

I quess because men must be running things.
But somebody a few days ago, said that in the Quran it says if a wife isn't doing what she should, that her husband is to respond in this way: 1. verbal warning
2. deny her sex
3. give her a good slap.
Is that true? I'm not judging it, I just wonder if you know? I'm a Christian woman, and when I see some of the stuff woman do, instead of being home caring for their children and home,
well, maybe a good smack is just what they need if they are neglecting their family to be a skimpy-clothed, arrogant sl ut, who goes to the bar and lets the children get in the house after school with a key thats around their little necks.
Some of them I'd like to smack myself.
