When you know you child has a boyfriend or girlfriend do you feel no shame? You know your child is going off to do sinful things and you don't try to stop it? You don't care about your childs purity? You know boyfriends and girlfriends xperiment witth sex and the rate of teenege pregnancy and STDs are high. How do you decide to let your child go out and do these things? How do you decide it ok for your child to have a girlfriend or boyfriend? Do you honestly think you child is capable of a commited long term relationship at the age of 16 or younger? I am just curious to know parents opinions.

I never dated. It is not allowed in my religion. As far as trusting your kids and having taught them right from wrong, it apparently doesn't work becasue if it did there wouldn't be so many STDs and pregnancies. I asked this question becasue my sister is in high school and she told me they have a 'mommy club' that meets after school becasue of all of teh teenage mothers. It teaches them parenting skills. This is in a small town too, not a big city.

I have been very open and honest with my oldest child who is 12 about the risks of STDs and pregnancy. He is a very level headed kid in most respects and honestly he doesn't have any interest in dating. Alot of kids his age where we live are already dating but I would have to say that I wouldn't allow dating until my kids are at least 15 and it would have to be somewhere like a movie theatre or a restaurant. I wouldn't want them to be anywhere where they could engage in sexual activity. If it is an innocent thing then I don't see the harm in it when they are teenagers but I can tell you that I will be very vigilante so that I make sure my kids don't make any mistakes they will regret.

Everyone has a different parenting style. Some are disciplinarians and others are more go with the flow. It doesn't matter what type you are when it comes to sex. You can talk to your child and encourage them to wait to have sex, but when it comes down to it, if a child wants to have sex, they are going to have sex. It is the parents responsibility to educate their child about sex and preventing STD's and be open and honest with their child if they have questions or need contraceptives.

This preaching, disguised as a question, is so lame, I was about to say forget you, walk away, and pay attention to somebody else and their question.

I changed my mind, however. I decided that I would submit an answer so I could take my 2 points and go.

Thank you for the points. As well, it certainly pays for the time I wasted clicking on and reading your question in the first place.

Thank you.

Sex is as old as the beginning of the world.
Many of my ancestors, who claimed to be Christian, "had" to get married.
If sex is so sinful, how did you have children in the first place?

Could your parents have stopped you short of locking you in the house? My kids aren't old enough to date yet but when they are, I'm not planning to make them sneak around behind my back.

Why fo you assume when your kids go out they are having sex? Did you teach them right from wrong? Do you talk to them openly every day? Trust them.
