I LOVE banana pudding without bananas (they get brown and gross). I use a whole box of vanilla wafers and the cook and serve banana pudding instead of the instant pudding so that the wafers get soggy. A little bit of cool whip on the top = delicious!!

Anyone else like banana pudding? How do you make it?

Yes it is fine with vanilla wafers, also good with stale dough nuts (cut up) or lady fingers, but it has to be homemade pudding, that stuff in the boxes is awfull! And use meringue, not cool whip.

And if you don't use over ripe bananas they won't get slimy

My recipe is as follows:

Slice and layer banannas alternating with vanilla wafers, if using dough nuts cut them up and mix, then pour in pan

make pudding

1 qt milk
3/4 cup sugar ( a little less if using doughnuts"
1/4 tsp salt
8 tbl flour
4 egg yolks (save whites for meringue)
4 tbl butter
4 tsp vanilla

combine everything except vanilla and butter, cook over med heat stirring constantly, bring to boil, boil one min. Remove from heat and add vanilla and butter.

pour over banannas and vanilla wafers

take egg whites and begin whipping, add 1 tbl sugar per white, whip until stiff peaks form, spread over pudding
bake at 400 degrees F for 10-15 min

let cool and enjoy!

I usually make this for a group or cover dish with plastic wrap bananas will go brown from the refrigeration.
1 pkg of banana pudding
3-4 bananas
15 Vanilla wafers

Mix pudding as directed, slice bananas, add wafers, and mix or you can layer.
Chocolate sauce and Cool Whip as any one desires.

I love banana pudding. I just make Jello instant, I don't put real bananas in it and I do not put vanilla wafers in it as the whole soggy thing is "ick". I love wafers but they have to be crispy. And I'm all for a dollop of cool whip on top of my pudding.

I like it.

I make single type servings.. so the bananas don't brown.

layer pudding, bananas and wafers. You do like you said without the bananas.. and just add your banana when you are ready to eat.

Brown bananas gross me out.

"Vanilla Pudding with a few naners and wafers" is too much to say and my fav part is the wafers after they have been sitting in the pudding for awhile and they are nice and soft. yummy!
