Avast 5 is excellent easily as good as any paid for anti-virus, id recommend installing it (link on my profile) updating it, then running a boot scan. Keep it installed to prevent you getting an infection in the future.

If you write in your browser "Free Anti Virus" and click "Search" you will find a list of all the companies that will offer you free trials of Anti virus , including "Norton", Mc Afee , etc, that will give you a trial of their products, and some of them will give you the anti virus for free. Try it.

Lavasoft has a free virus program called Ad aware and it stays free also updates regularly to find new viruses.

I will go for: KASPERKSY anti-virus ( 30 day trial )
then after the trial end you can install AVAST and its worthly.
but of course dont forget to download anti-spyware( AVG anti-spyware Search and destroy and CCcleaner.
