Alrighty, I am geting a 79 blazer, and I went to check it out yesterday, and the part where the intake filter sits is missing, its just the carb, is this okay or no?

It's OK but you need to install a new intake filter and housing. You can but a good intake filter for $15 to $20 for the older cars. I buy them at auto shows, chrome plated for $15, and they do a good job.
You local auto parts store can sell you what you need.

Look, the intake filter is not very hard to get replaced or to get a new one made. You could actually buy one of those aftermarket Cold Air Intakes online for about 150 bucks and install it yourself. Or you could just take it to a shop and have them put it on for you for around 50 bucks.
Now, when buying the New Intake system make sure that you are buying on the tube with a right diameter... so that it would fit your car perfectly.
I have taken out my factory intake, and put a new aftermarket one, the car cools down a lot faster and more horsepower.

if it has been run for any length of time without an air filter be prepared to rebuild the engine soon . also there may be water etc. in the carb , intake etc. i hope it's cheap

no. Would you buy a car with the spark plugs missing? Check and see what the part cost before buying it.

Its ok, but not good. Can get an air cleaner cover anywhere for it.
