Pancakes are a type of flatbread prepared from a batter that is cooked on a hot griddle or in a frying pan. They exist in several variations in many different local cuisines. Most pancakes are quick breads, although some are also made using a yeast-raised or fermented batter

in North America, flapjack is another term for a pancake, made using baking powder which causes the pancake to rise. The word elements: flap- meaning a tossed mixture and jack, an uncertain word suggesting a variety, imply any ingredients could be called a flapjack.

In other words, no difference, it just depends on where you learned to call them ... hot cake, flapjack, pancake, flannelcake, flapcake, griddlecake, hotcake, battercake

The word "pancake" is 600 years old; the word "flapjack" is just 400 years old. But they're both the same thing.

a pancake is made from batter. a flapjack is made from flour,oatmeal and syrup. and you cook them in the oven.pancakes you cook on the top of the stove

There's no difference. their both the same thing. However, it will depend on the family and culture of which word to use
