My 6 year old son asked me that question the other day. They always think up the big questions that have no absolute answer that we can give.
We know what happens to our bodies when we die. That is obvious. But our bodies are not usually what we identify as the person. It is our personality and past experiences that makes us who we are. It is our consciences that we are concerned for what happens when we die. And this is the part that is unknown.
We like to give ourselves comfort in the thought that we do actually go somewhere. Hopefully this is a nice place.
What I believe is that when we die, chemical & electrical reactions in the brain cease to work (at least in the way it was before, forming consciousness and activity) and will perhaps change into a different energy form. If our conscious self in going to reincarnate, I don't think that we will be aware of it. So death is the end of the life cycle that we are experiencing now, and perhaps the start of a new form of life cycle. The two life cycles would be continuous but not conscientiously connected.
anyway, if I die and I am aware of it, I will try and find a way of telling people what happens. In the meantime, I will not use up anymore minutes of my life to answer this boggling question!

Your bodys functions will shut down one by one or all at once. It can be a long process or happen very quickly.
You're heart will quit beating and you will quit breathing.
Your spirit will leave your body and go home. (heaven)
The body that remains is just a shell. It must be taken care of by a funeral home.
They will either burn the remains or enbalm you. To enbalm means that they preserve the body with chemicals so that it will look nice for all of the family to see before it is buried.
It's natual. It happens to everyone. It might seem scary to think about now, but the older you get, the less scary it becomes.

nobody is sure what happens when somebody dies, however some religions believe in afterlife, heaven and or hell and it depends on religious belief as to what they think will happen to themselves when they die.
However microorgansism do decompose all dead matter and if buried, the flesh will be eaten by these microoganisms and enzymes. The skeleton remains. Or if cremated the ashes are stored in an urn, or poured somewhere iconic to that person.

Nobody know.
Some believe of heaven and hell.
Others believe than you re-incarnate.
Some believe than is nothing after the live.
You believe what you want but nobody know, you will see one day when you will die.
