People complain, but all the ones I see are near bad junctions etc. And if anyone ever sped on the lousy A14 around Cambridge then they should get 12 points

Every bloody one of them, in my opinion. Traffic on the A14 is so heavy that speeding is seldom even possible most of the time so the cams are largely a waste of time and money.

Now, regular police patrols to nab the "dodgers and weavers", offside lane hogs, and the wankers who overtake on the nearside lane would make MUCH more sense!

The problem with speed cameras is that they're seen as a revenue making exercise and to some extents this is true.

Moreover, they're the product of this and previous governments attempts to resolve a problem. Namely, legislate rather than educate.

Despite the huge number of traffic calming measures introduced in recent years the number of deaths, accidents and injuries on Britans's roads has been increasing for the first time since the war.

Speed cameras and the like simply serve to move the problem elsewhere.

Previously, the focus was on education and there were campaigns such as the Green Cross Code and the Tufty Club which taught people road sense. These have been done away with in favour of penalising individuals and it's been proven not to work.

Get rid of the speed cameras and the like and return to a policy of educating people.

I don't know about Cambridge but if they are anything like the ones in Kent then none are in a sensible place

Revenue makers not speed detectors

Just another way of hitting the motorist
