Bone has no sharp edges, has cooked meat on it, ws cooked just a second a go, is too big for him to swallow, and has been boiled. Can I give it to my golden retriever puppy? (16 weeks old)

I would discourage this because he could break off small shards of it and they might be shapper than you think and can do some internal damage. I don't reccomend giving animals real animal bones I would say like nyla bones and such.

You shouldn't ever give any bones to puppies or dogs. They fracture too easily and puppies frequently have stronger jaws than you might think. Cut the meat off and give that to the pup, but not the bones!

As long as the dog does no splinter the bone into sharp pieces you can. Just keep a close eye out that he does not break it into something that would cause a problem if swallowed.

He's not going to be swallowing the bone, only chewing on it. A lamb bone should be fine. Chicken bones aren't fine, though, they tend to splinter when chewed, which will cause damage to their stomachs.

NO NO NO..NO MATTER HOW BIG OR SMALL. TO BE SAFE NO BONES. I HAD A VERY SAD EXPERIENCE WITH MY WEIMERANER PUPPY, HANS. SOME IDIOT GAVE HIM A BONE, AND THE POOR LITTLE GUY ENDED UP CHOCKING. THAT WAS OVER 25 YEARS AGO, AND I HAVE NEVER GIVEN ANY DOG I HAVE OWNED A BONE, NO MATTER HOW BIG THE BONE IS.

I wouldn't. You never know with puppies. Wait until he's older. In the meantime give him the small milk bones. He'll like them and they're much safer.

Yes. You can give him the bone provided that it is large enough. The histrionic answers shreiking 'no!' are just, quite simply, wrong.

You don't give dogs bones. Unless it is a very large bone.
