about 3 minutes ago my cat was turning her head to the left and started shaking it as if shes having a seizure. i saw her do something like this earler but not so much as just now. my brother told me she was meowing alot before i got home also. i sat in front of her and held her head to see if shes ok. she didnt seem to look at me tho. and didnt show any signs of wanting to move. so i stood up and she started doing it again then brought her foot up to her ear and scratched it. could it be she was having a twitch from fleas irratating her or was she actuly having a little seizure and should i take her to the vets about it?

shes about 9 or 10 years old, she was not cold as she was right next to me snuggled up on my dressing gown. and it seemd like after she itched her ear she was fine. right now shes on the stairs cleaning her self.
shes only recently gotten fleas (from god knows where!)
shes a house cat,
we have a parrot, which she never goes near.
*shrug* i honistly have no idea what could have caused the twitching, so far im guessing it was a flea irritating her.

(shes back next to me now)

Did you use anythin gon her to get rid of the fleas? If so, that could be causing the problem. There have been a number of cases of cats becomng quite ill after having a flea treatment. This often includes salivating, shaking nd having a fit or seizure. In some cases it can be quite severe and lead to death. It happens often when owners get the dog treatments mixed up with cat treatments, but has also happened with the correct cat product. When getting flea treatments always get the form the vets, not a pet store or other store. The ones on sale at these stores are not tested as thoroughly as the ones your vet can provide and use different chemicals which will either be useless at getting rid of the flea, or may harm your cat. I have had this problem with my cat. She was at the vets for 2 days on sedatives and a drip and also had steroids. She came home but still had fits, usually a few each day. These also resulted in her wetting herself. Please don't use the flea products from shops, only get them from a vets. They are better and safer for your cat.

i got 3 stray kittens from a friend 2 were very tiny and i had two 2 yr olds in the house well the kids were learning how to hold the cats and sometimes they would pick them up by just the head now i dont know if that is what caused it but 2 of the 3 kittens were doing just what your cat was doing. was she drooling mine started meowing then staggering then dropped stiffly and started twithing. i called the vet and they said it was possible they had seizure problems. we ended up having to put the 2 down cause it would cost to much for treatment but long story short if you havent already take the cat to the vet immediatly. we dont know if because our kittens were runts or if the kids accdently did something to them, but i feel your pain i was sooo scared when they did what they did.

The only thing that I can think of that could be causing her shivering is something neurological.

You need to take her to a Vet. If your cat does not respond and shakes that means something is wrong with her nerves (Brain).

Yor cat has had a seizure. Get him to the vet. Also yo may have added to it by giving him medication meant for humans. So get him to the vet and tell him the whole story. Otherwise yo cat might die.

I'd take her to the vet. Especially if she seems "dazed"...she didn't seem to look at you or want to move. May also be ear mites?? Look in her ear. If she has a lot of brownish stuff in there, then yeah most likely. But you should take her to the vet regardless. She can't tell you what's wrong.

Yes it most certainly seems as though your cat is having a seizure. Its important to get her to a vet.Its actually pretty common in animals but definitely needs medical help.

It depends on how old she is and what her medical history has in it? Has she had problems with fleas bothering her before?

Either way,it doesn't sound good so far, I would call up the vet first to see hat they say, but they'll probably ask to see her/him.

Take her to the vet immediately she could be having a seizure but it might even be a stroke. Get on the phone now and to the vets. I hope she will be okay. Good luck!
