It depends on what treatment center you go to for help. If it is a center not affilitated with a hospital they may try outpatient treatment but normally eating disorders are treated in a hospital like setting until they feel you are stable enough to go home. Remember with an eating disorder you are at risk of electrolyte or cardiac problems from this causing severe enough problems for you to die. This is part of the reason you will be in a hospital or treatment center so they can monitor your health closer. Many women with eating disorders die and they are trying to prevent anything serious like this from happening.

More than the BMI, if you are starving and develop some complications, they will admit you and try to pump some food into you. But do try to eat something instead of being force-fed.

HAVING AN EATING DISORDER HAS A HUGE STRAIN ON YOUR BODY. YOU WILL PROBABLY GET HOSPITALIZED IF YOU HAVE A SLOW HEART RATE, LOW LEVELS OF PHOSPHATE, AND ELECTROLYTE IN BALANCE AND MUSCLE WEAKNESS. THIS DISEASE NEVER REALLY GOES AWAY . THE BEST ADVISE I CAN GIVE YOU IS, TAKE ONE DAY AT A TIME.
