My 2 1/2 year old son has been potty trained for a while now , but still wears a diaper to bed. We have done the no drinks before bed, but he still wakes up wet. I don't want to have him stop drinking at 4 in the afternoon. Any suggestions.....plzzzzzz!

He is dry during the day, and 2hr nap, I think he just sleeps heavy during the night. The reason I want him out is because we have a baby too, and I am tired of buying twice the diapers.

Have him go pee before he goes to bed and no drinks two hours before bed time. You will have accidents, so when you are making his bed, rip a trash bag down the seams and lay it on his mattress, then put a towel down, then his sheet. This way it won't get into the mattress fibers and stink. A lot of the time they get downstairs, to the potty, but run out of time. (If I had a dollar for everytime I had to wash the rug in front of the toilet I'd be rich) Tell him what a big boy he is. It takes a few weeks, but they get the hold of it.

Nothing wrong with a 3 yr old wearing diapers to bed. My 3 yr old is potty trained but we keep diapers on her during the night but more and more she gets up and goes to the bathroom herself-

He'll start to want to go potty instead of peeing in a diaper during the night.

ETA-

Do NOT buy the Good Nights as another poster suggested! They are twice as expensive and are the same as a diaper!!

I think your a little early to be worried about this now, but when the time comes as a reminder to him while sleeping that he doesn't have a diaper on, have him sleep naked. He will likely wake up if he goes and can get up to finnish. A garbage bag or other leak proof barrier will not only protect the matteress, but will also up the chances of him waking up. You can also have a new sheet ready so he can make the bed again without having to bother you, but for now, I wouldn't worry so much try training pants for now if you feel the need.

I dont' see a big deal AT ALL. All kids' night-time wake ability is different. Two of my daughters were diaper free even at night as soon as they were potty trained; my middle daughter still wears a pull-up at 5 years old. She just does NOT wake up. I suggest you buy some generic, cheaper pullups for night time use only and stop worrying yourself about it.

Not drinking after a certain time is good, but ya I wouldn't want to make it too early either.
You could make sure he goes before bed, and wake him up once or twice a night to go to the bathroom, then he will learn to get up on his own perhaps, at night. I'd bet you wouldn't have to do that for too long either.
Other wise it could be a medical condition also. So if that doesn't work I would consult a doctor about it.

Good Luck!

Get him up at night to potty for several nights and show him there is nothing between him and the potty. Place pads under him with the big boy undies on and stress keeping dry at night. Do get him out of the pull ups at night. My grandson at age four still is in pull ups at night and everyone (mom and dad) thinks it is fine, super, he will eventually be dry etc. He is dry during the day.

What is the problem with him sleeping in a diaper? I know people who have 3 yr olds who are not potty trained. Making a big deal about it will only cause him anxiety and make matters worse.

I might try not giving him any drinks after 6. If he needs something right as he goes to bed, just a small drink of water. If he wakes up in the late evening, you might take him to try to go potty.

You might consider a product called Good Nights. They are similar to pull-ups but are designed for older children who cannot stay dry all night. Some children just sleep too hard.
