When should you start using a new strand? I've heard they last a couple days.

I would use a new piece every time. I think the thought of reusing something like that sounds rather nasty to me. Think about it you have food and such on it you really want to put it back in your mouth when its already starting to decay?

If you are reusing a piece of floss, you are kind of defeating its purpose. Floss is designed to remove plaque and bacteria from in between your teeth. Between uses, that bacteria would multiply and you would be just putting it back onto your teeth and pushing it up under the gumline where it would feast away and cause gingivitis, periodontitis, bone loss, infection....

Please throw away your floss after each use... for your own health.

a piece of floss should be THROWN out right after you use it ONCE. It is unhealthy and disgusting to reuse a piece of floss. That defeats of the purpose of floss if you reintroduce bacteria to the spaces between your teeth. You are HARMING your teeth by reusing floss. ALWAYS use a fresh piece of floss!!

I use a new strand every time I floss. If you use the rolled kind it doesn't cost much but I don't know about the flosser things as they can be expensive.

I use a strand only once...I'm sure all kinds of bacteria grow on them.
