Before there were so many biscuits on the market, the Custard Cream was considered more posh - hence the Baroque design. Now they are produced cheaply and in large amounts so have become more generic.

Did you know?
The custard cream is a popular biscuit in the United Kingdom [and other countries like Australia]. Its structure is that of a biscuit sandwich with a cream centre. Custard creams are usually of a yellowish colour. Contrary to its name, it does not taste like custard, it often tastes of vanilla. They also often have an elaborate baroque design stamped onto them.

Like the American Oreo, the custard cream is often eaten by twisting the two biscuits apart and eating the centre first.

The gypsy cream is identical in construction but with a chocolate flavoured biscuit and cream. The bourbon biscuit is distinguished from the gypsy cream by being longer, and with a more brittle biscuit.

Custard Creams have won "UK Biscuit Of The Year" an amazing 12 times. The last being in 2005.

In September 1995, a batch of custard creams were made and released onto shop Shelves in Asda. This batch had "Custard" spelt on the biscuit wrong, It was spelt "Kussterd".

Penguin Bars are a copy of the Australian Tim Tam which are super-delicious. In the same range I also like Caramel Crowns and Mint Slice.
