What an Arrogant statement to say to others. In other words because you don't believe or disbelieve what I think, then you somehow can't think freely..WHAT AN ARROGANT jerk would say such an ugly stupid thing?

Or this idea that if you don't believe or disbelieve like me...this somehow means WE are more intelligent...what arrogance. After all SCIENCE has never been wrong, or Science hasn't changed it's position. How many times have they changed it's positions on what good for you or not. Butter has changed 6 times since 1970. The list is endless about so-called Scientific positions

Am I wrong here???

I agree with you. There's a tendency for a lot of the atheists and agnostics here to belittle the intelligence and reasoning ability of Christians, just because we believe something that they don't.

It doesn't say much for their so-called "tolerance," that's for sure.

Edit:

I'd say those "thumbs-down" are case in point.

I'm not sure who said science has never been wrong or that it even had the pretense of never being wrong. Kind of goofy idea, really, considering that having a corner on absolute truth would negate the whole point of having science. Sounds like a fundamentalist atheist thing to say. You know the people: they think evolution is a religion and say it's an absolute truth.

On the other hand, many relgious peoples are arrogant about their faith (including those that faithfully insist there is no god). I've certainly met some arrogant jerk atheists who had no more respect for my position on religion than arrogant jerk religious people. That doesn't mean there aren't nice people in their ranks that can be reasonable and friendly. It's too bad the jerks make more noise though, huh?

But now that you mention it, "I thought so!" sounds a little patronizing... Are you sure you're not subconsciously asking for such treatment?

You're right, science changes its position. Science presents the best theory based on the data available, and as more data are found the theory sometimes changes. That is exactly why it makes more sense to believe in science than in religion. If you believe something that has no mechanism to deal with new evidence then your belief simply cannot be based on anything but blind faith.

"Butter has changed 6 times since 1970"?

This should make me a believer?

Ah, at least I can think for...

Oh, wait. Never mind.

Have you heard it said by some: I can be Saved, and never have to think for myself again? What ignorance.
