I wonder if they are "searching", without even "knowing", that God is 'pressing on their hearts".
Even the ones who say they "do not care", are Here...

Because they know they are mssing something in life and they know they need help, even though they are too proud to admit it..

A few have been deceived into thinking they are god's gift to mankind in saving the world from Christianity....ha, ha...we have to laugh at them...remember...

"... we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, hateful, and hating one another. But after the kindness and love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteoudness we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us,..." (Titus 3:3)

Because you and I know that God exists so the burden of proof is on them to prove there is no God.

Religion and Spirituality isn't about the belief in nothing. So I would agree with your hypothesis they don't even know.

And Jesus said"Lord forgive them for they know not what they are doing"
God Bless

Atheism is a part of religion and spirituality. In general, you have to be informed of something in order to reject it.

That being said, in my experience, there are not nearly as many atheists as some say, they just think that everyone who disargees with them is an atheist.

I, for example, don't see much difference between monotheists and atheists, they both don't believe in most deities. Monotheists just believe in one more than atheists.

If a monotheist has no issue with not believing in Zeus, why would they have problems with people not believing in *their* deity of choice?

Yes, and this is a good place for the Atheist because the name implies no God. Since God is a Spirit then the Spirituality category would be the ideal place for these Atheists.
And BTW it takes more faith to be an Atheist than it does to be a Christian. Atheism is an absolute negative and therefore indefensible.

I've seen this question a lot. I think they like to argue/debate. The problem is - many religious people use their holy books to back up "facts" - and that's just silly.

God is simply Love - and it is always pressing on everybody's heart.

Still - it's no wonder that all the rules - and the burning hell - and spewed scriptures are a turn off to them. It's probably what makes them want to argue/debate. Sometimes I don't blame them.

As someone said, belief and disbelief go together.

Also, atheists tend to have very strong opinions.

(And I'm not going to say anything more besides that vague answer, since I'm not atheist and saying anything too specific about a group of people can lead to blasting.)

Because unless closely monitored, Christians are likely to continue unabated their efforts to restrict human rights and attack increasing human knowledge, as follows:

rights of homosexuals
rights of women, including efforts to enslave women who become pregnant against their will
efforts to insert religion into science classes
efforts to allow torture of non-believers and political dissidents
efforts to prevent medical research on embryonic stem cells
efforts to impose religion into the government, against the will of the taxpayers
efforts to instill God into the constitution
etc.
etc.
etc.

Because this is the Religion and Spirituality section not the "Jesus Freaks only" section. Anyone here can ask or answer questions about religion and/or spirituality regardless of what he or she believes or doesn't believe in.

Why do SOOOO many people ask this question?

I don't believe in god, that's the damn truth. Why would I be searching that "god" is pressing on my heart when I'm 100% sure that he doesn't exist? Doesn't make sense does it? No, so save yourself some time....and points.

- because we can
- because it doesn't say christians only
- because belief and disbelief go together
- because you're funny
- because it is an open forum
