A good way to find a local flight school is to go to the AOPA Be A Pilot website http://www.beapilot.com/ you can search there for a flight school, as well as you can get information regrading becoming a pilot.

NMC in Traverse City has an aviation program with hands on training and planes to fly. Or else try U of M.

don't fly in MIchigan, come on down to Florida, where we have more than 300 days of perfect flying weather each year and attend Embry Riddle in Daytona
