It is a side disorder that stems off of OCD.. it is called Dermatillomania. if you have not yet been diagnosed with OCD, perhaps you should see your family doctor and ask them to evaluate you. also, look up Obsessive Compulsive Disorder on Wikipedia and see if you have any of the other signs/symptoms. that may help you to better understand what you're doing. after seeing a doctor, there are many treatment options, but trust me, its not easy. i began treatment for it about 4 months ago and it is the most frustrating thing in the world.. but if you keep at it, it may help!

I have done that to the point where I made myself bleed. It was discovered by my doctor that these actions were a result of stress overload. He prescribed a mild anti-depressant and the picking has stopped completely.

I used to. I used to do it and not even realise I was picking! My friends used to knock my hand from my face or yell at me to stop. After a while, my hand would find its way back to my face. I don't remember when I stopped. I just did. Mostly it was by sheer will and effort when I realized it was making things worse.

I only pick at it if there's a zit or something. I do constantly bite my lip when I'm nervous, which is also not the best thing but a habit I can't break.

I do it constantly, and my best friend's mom does it to. It's a for of self-inflicted injury, usually caused by either OCD or anxiety. You might want to consult a physician or a psychiatrist to see if some type of anti-anxiety medication would help. Good luck!

I find my self picking at my scalp when my hands have nothing to do while I'm studying or reading. Try learning to knit or crochet, or something similar with your hands so they have something productive to do while you work.

Well, it's probably a genetic thing, cause I have been doing that forever. You don't even want to know. I will pick myself bloody. It's a disease.
