you should be looking now. Ask them how far in advance they will need a deposit. The earlier the better. We knew all the time where we were getting married and we reserved it almost a year in advance.

It's time to start looking for your reception location now. Pick a few different locations and on Saturdays go check them out. I would take a notebook so you can right down any information they give you and your opinion on each location. Maybe even take a digital camera so you can remember them all (especially if you plan on checking out a lot of locations).
Questions to ask:
~ Maximum occupancy?
~ ABC license?
~ Safe place for wedding cake?
~ Charge for set-up/cleanup?
~ What is provided? (tables, chairs, servers, bartender, etc.)
~ Should flowers, decorations, and beverages/alcohol be delivered the day before? (proper place for storing flowers?)
Good Luck and Congrats!

You should start now. If you are picking a place that is popular, or reasonably priced those have a tendency to book up fast. Sometimes you have to think outside the box if that is the case. Hotels and churches might be booked. The good thing is, that is an off peak date. Consider museums, golf courses or the zoo. Pick something that fits with both your personalities. Don't delay, start today. Good luck.

it usually is easy to reserve a place. it took me a little bit to find one. you should be looking for one now and deciding in the next 2-3 months. go to places and check them out. how close is it to where you want to get married? how many guests minimum and maximum do they allow? any hidden set up fees? how long do you have the place for? those are some of the basic questions to ask. they usually ask for a deposit and it's about 500 usually for most places. that way no one else can take that time and date. they will pencil you in on that date but it's always first come first serve.

Start now! I was shocked how early in advance that people had reserved places. We had to push our date back several months so that we could get both the chapel and country club on the same evening. Best of luck and congratulations!

You are not behind schedule, but you need to start moving. I booked my reception hall for my March 07 (10 more days!) wedding in February 06 and my first place was already booked!
