You can't change your dog's foods like that. You're just making her stomach more ill every time you change it.

Go to the store, get some Kaopectate and give her 5 ml for every 10 lbs she weighs.

And please stop changing her food like that. Hurts the tummy. :(

When swtiching foods it has to be done slowly otherwise they do get an upset tummy. She also may have eaten something out of the garbage that did not agree with her. You may want to place her on a bland diet for the next few days until her stool hardens up. Our vet suggests brown rice with boiled hamburger and alittle plain yogurt. Kitty Litter for some reason seems like a real treat to dogs but it can be very bad for them. Exspecially the clumping kind. Dogs can not digest it and it sits in their stomach and can cause some serious damage to their insides. Get a covered litter box and move it to an area where she can not get it. If the diarrhea persists for more than 5 days, you should take her to the vet to be checked.

Hi Gregory h!

Diarrhea (loose or watery stools) is not a disease in itself, but simply a very obvious symptom that something is not quite right with the intestinal system.

But sometimes, it's obvious that the problem is more serious, either because the diarrhea has become persistent over the last few days, or the pet is weak and listless, or there are additional problems such as vomiting, or blood in the stool. In cases like this, it's time to have a veterinarian examine the patient. Please look article: http://www.askedweb.com/askedweb/Diarrhea/

But , for your situation, I recommended 12-24 hours of starvation to allow the system to clean out and allowing the dog small amounts of liquids during this hours. This should be followed with a bland diet of boiled meat and rice or potato in small amounts until the symptoms subside, then slowly return to it's normal meal. Usually if this persists beyond this time, or if the pet looks depressed, you should probably take it in to your Veterinarian.

My dog has bouts of this and no doubt yours-being a mixed lab- has picked up some trash and given herself the runs.
You should cut out her dog food for 24 hours.Give her a little scrambled eggs and nothing else apart from leaving her water down
Next day give her a little dog food and biscuit-about half of what you would normally.
She could probably do with a little weight loss anyway -and she'll regain that soon enough.I've had to do this on a number of occasions with my retriever and it seems to do the trick..
until the next time.He hasn't gone on with the problem for more than 5 days max at any one time
If this doesn't cure her then it will be 5 days and that would be about right for a vet's visit

First, get a covered kitty litter box and that will stop. Sometimes a change in diet can cause diarrhea. My vet has always suggested feeding my dog hamburg mixed with rice when this has happened. It takes about a day, but the combination gives the dog needed protein and is soft so the bowels won't be irritated any further. The rice also seems to coagulate the feces somewhat. If this diet doesn't help, best to consult your vet. Good luck!

ok switching your dogs food could have been the cause not to mention it is wet food which is NOT good for your dog either..it is too rich for their tummys and will cause their teeth to rot. the dry food acts as a natural tooth brush..but anywho back to your question

it could be the canned..I would put her on only fry for a frew days and see if it gets better. also..my dog get stomach viruses alot..and he has horrible runny liquid poop for about a week and it goes away and he is still happy and perky..just has the poop...

if you are going to give your dog anything to stop the poop you can give her half of a pepto bismol. and if that doesnt work in about an hour..then give her the other half..but NO more then that. just like people..having diarrea is your bodies natural way of getting rid of toxins so she needs to get it out of her system..yes its nasty but stopping it could make her even more sick.

so as long as she is still drinking plenty of water just keep taking her outside..or even take up for food for the rest of the day..it wont hurt her I promise.

also put the litter box somewhere else and the garbage somewhere else too. she doesnt know anybetter.

hope this helps some

Try to keep your dog on dry dog food only such as Purina Healthy Morsels. I know that if dogs get too much table food that will give them the runs. I once warmed up some pork from the refrigerator and gave it to my Boxer and she had a severe case of the runs. She felt terrible for about 3 days, she did'nt want to do anything but lay down. I took her to the vet and they said that the meat was too strong for her intestines.

sound like my dogs. no telling what's causing it. you can give immodium. two caplets. if she blows again, give 1 more. no food for 24 hrs. then just give cooked hamburger and rice for another 24 hrs. then you can mix her regular food with the rice mixture. small amounts, cuz you want to see the reaction. give plenty of water to prevent dehydration. if it lasts for more than a week, call your vet cuz she may have a "bug" or something.

the kaopectate idea is good.We have given our dogs alpo canned dog food before, and they also get the runs. We have several cans here, and will not give it to our dogs.Make sure he is getting lots of fluids also.
