Canon is the best, but not the cheapest. My wife has a 6 year old s200 that still works excellent. I have a 6 year old Rebel 2000 35mm that is excellent. I have a 6 mos. old A700 that I like so much that I don't use the 35mm any more. My wife had a 2 year old Kodak digital that is now garbage, ditto my son. Kodak is cheaper for cameras with comparable specs, but YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.

Depends on the camera. Cannon is a major brand with pros. Kodak is not. I use Nikon only myself. It's not always a matter of better, but a matter of choice.

(It's "Canon".)

Good for what?

Yes, Canon is a good camera. In a certain category, for certain features, at a certain price point, you might prefer a Kodak.

The best thing to do is perform a comparison based on your preferences and then read some reviews. A good place to do this http://www.dpreview.com/
