SIMPLE fix.

Follow the upper radiator hose to the engine.
Under the T-stat housing that the hose is clamped to is the thermostat.

Drian some coolant into a bucket first. (could get messy if you don't)

Remove the hose from the T-stat housing.
Remove the two bolts on the T-stat housing.
Scrape the excess crud from the housing and manifold.
Replace the T-stat and gasket. (heavy end down)
Put everything back on.
Refill coolant.
Check for leaks.

get your self, a big clean plactic pan, and slide it under the car. Open the petcock on the raidater, and drain off about three fourths of it's coolent.

locate the big hose coming off of the TOP of the radiater. follow it to the engine, and it shuld come to a big cover with a huge hump in it. remove the bolts that hold it on, and care fully remove it.

The thermostate is under the cap with the hump.

look at your new thermostate, notice a copper bullet. that end MUST go DOWN into the engine
