If the motor runs awful with the SES light on, it is probably a stuck EGR valve. These used to get stuck with pieces of carbon in them. This was a factory recall, but I don't think the recall is valid anymore. You could also be expiencing a huge vacuum leak. Either way the first thing to do is get the PCM scanned to see what codes are stored. Then if it is an EGR code, you can remove the valve and knock out the carbon and try to clean out the rest of the carbon in the passages. A lot of the time the valve becomes damaged because of the extra heat passing through it so it is best to replace it. You need to clean the injectors on these vans at least once a year to keep the carbon build up in check. Good luck.

These vehicles were bad about the EGR valve sticking open. It is located at the front of the intake. It is not easy to access. But you can remove it and visually check for a stuck open pintle.
Good luck!

Could be a simple vacuum leak.
Hose came off somewhere on the intake manifold.
Listen for a sucking noise.

Or, a stuck EGR valve.

sounds like a simple idle adjustment. look in the owners manual to see what engine you have and google for info. Couldn't be that big of a deal.
