First, let me confess I have not yet been to Toronto ... but I have been to a number of other large Canadian Cities, and most of the large cities in the U.S. and I live in Vancouver, Canada at the moment. I also have done a great deal of research on Canada in the past few years. So, here is some general information about Canadian cities compared to U.S. Cities, keeping in mind that I have not personally visited Toronto.
1) most people say that Toronto has a more European flavour than U.S. Cities do.
2) generally speaking, Canadian Cities are cleaner, have fewer true slum areas,
3) Canada is a very multi-cultural country, and this is amplified in the large cities. With the exception of NYC, Canadian cities are far more diverse than American cities are.
4) While there tends to be less extremes of rich and poor, you will still find the homeless and drug areas in Toronto.

I live in Toronto, and have lived in the area all of my life!
It's a city rich in culture and diversity. It has everything that any major US city has, and in some cases, more. The winters are very comparable to Chicago.
And unlike what M A has stated, the legal drinking age is 19 -- NOT 18!

The first answer is right ! Toronto officially prides itself on having a lot of trees, in parks and ravines and residential streets, and along roads, plus the city govt is actively planting and encouraging people to plant more trees and have set new laws prohibiting removal of trees. Its part of the urban landscape in Toronto, and its a good move because trees convert carbon-dioxide into oxygen, and the shade and evapotranspiration does help to reduce some of the intense summer heat. Toronto even boasts of having 1500 parks too.
Toronto is VERY multicultural, and harmonious, people are people regardless of their origin, and we tolerate and appreciate and are enriched by many cultures. I live in Toronto, and its nice to come home after travelling. Boston was clean and beautiful, loved it there. Toronto is bigger and more dynamic than Boston.
Toronto is more multicultural than New York, and has less polarization of rich and poor than Chicago.
Welcome and Enjoy !

Lived in Toronto for 7 years...moved to Chicago just last year.
I'd have to say Toronto is probably closest to Chicago. Big city...close to one of the great lakes...
Magnificent Mile = Bloor St. (Yorkville)
State St. = Yonge St.
Macy's = The Bay
Toronto is more multicultural so you'll see lots of people from different countries...find lots of great restaurants offering different food. Chicago has a better developed lakefront. T.O. is more environmentally friendly than Chi-town! Public transportation is better in chicago. Out of all Canadian cities, Toronto is the most "American"-like.

Just let me say that unlike many large American cities Toronto is clean and safe and the downtown part of the city is alive from residential to business, underground malls, major league ball park, and just a ten minute ferry ride from downtown is Toronto Islands and that is just one humongous park with kiddies amusement area and beaches (including a clothing optional beach) also one island has an commercial airport. Neighbourhoods are multicultural as is the rest of the country. More good restaurants than you could eat in in a lifetime and about as many NOT so good eateries. It is a big city with a fairly good public transit system and lots of things to do and see. Oh, and the people are very friendly and welcoming. Try; toronto.com for a little more insight.

When you've got health care for everyone - it's always far, far, better. A lot of places in the States may be different shades compared to Toronto(I was born here and still live here - 62 yrs ago)but if one becomes unwell and needs health care - oy! I've seen some beauts in my time, especially in Florida. I believe the asker knows what I'm talking about, but no one, not even from here makes the major distinction!! Anywhere in this beautiful country is better if only for that. there's lots more, but that's the biggie! 'Nuff said.

I live in the Illinois and have visited Toronto a few times let me say that I love it. The first time I sent there my now husband put me on the subway by myself. Needless to say I was scared but the people were very friendly and helpful. Toronto has so many things to offer. Anything tour want you could find there and it never seems to really sleep. I remember it being around 2am and it was fez zing cold but yet people were playing hockey and vender's were selling hot dogs and sausages.
I have visited Montreal too and I must say to me the people of Toronto were so much nicer.

Nope. Just as NY, Boston and Chicago each have their own distinctive characteristics, so does Toronto. But it does relate to large American cities in the range of activities offered and the amenities and facilities available.

Toronto is in Canada.
Although there are similarities between Toronto and some American cities, such as shopping, restaurants, and clubs, there are also many differences, mainly which centre on the culture (varieties) that you will find in T.O.

What made the Bulls risky is the reality that many communities neglected previous Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen. What made the Bulls in a position grow to be the situation gamers who embraced their different place that made them develop to seventy two wins and a championship. the spectacular thing approximately this tournament-up is that the Boston huge 3 would desire to be locked down than they're going to ever prevail conserving off Jordan, Pippen, Harper and Kukoc. Garnett, Pierce and Allen isn't that great defender as Jordan, Pippen and Rodman (you need to undergo in strategies that till Rodman grow to be long long gone have Garnett's protective prowess been regarded). enjoying in this bastardized protection, Jordan would have scored 50 factors with regularity, the day gone by we observed Bryant taking photos 9-24 yet ending with 32 factors? Jordan in those years seldom shot this undesirable, and his total profession as a Bull he have been waiting to shoot 50% FG. I even ask your self how many rebounds Boston would desire to ahve grabbed against between the video games ultimate in Rodman. undergo in strategies Rodman as quickly as grabbed greater rebounds than 5 gamers blended interior the Finals sequence vs. Utah... it may be close, and shall we by no ability understand a greater powerful finisher than Jordan. Bulls would win. desire this enables.
