Someone who is retired asked me is there any way they could emigrate from the UK to Australia purely on funds? i.e. not pursuing a family or skills based route.

They are living off a private pension and has about £150,000 worth of assets.

Please no silly answers about bribing immigration officials!!!!

Yes they can, however they are going to need more money than £150,000.

The visa you are looking for is the investor retirement visa. Part of the requirement is the ability to make a significant investment in australia. This amount is currently set at AU$750,000 to live in major cities, AU$500,000 to live in regional areas. (£300K, and £200K respectivley)

Second answer...as long as the country know you will not be a welfare recipient, you shouldn't have a problem.
