I have an all white cat and..?

he when outside under the car and got oil on his back. He can't reach it with his tongue, thank god, but I can't get it off him.. Any ideas?

Try giving him a bath with Dawn dish detergent. It will take the oil out of his coat and will not harm him. Avoid getting it in his eyes, as cats eyes are very sensitive.

Try rubbing cornstarch or a non toxic powder into the cats back to absorb some of the oil and brush out. You may have to do this several times. Then wash the spot with Dawn Dish Soap . Make sure to rince well.

I suggest contacting a local vet or pet shop for advice. Dawn may cut through grease, but it may be bad for kitty. A cat shampoo should work.

Give him a bath - If you do not have cat shampoo then use your shampoo. In a pinch I used Pantene on my cat. Make sure you do not get any shampoo in his ears or eyes. Use warm water, not hot. And make sure you rinse all the soap off really well.

Try a hand cleaner used for cleaning up after automotive work. You'll probably have to brush it through to get it out of his fur. Then clean him with soap and water. Good luck with all of this. I hope he's declawed for your sake.

I use dish soap that has lemon in it to wash my hands after working on vehicles. Works better than the hand cleaners they sell for that purpose.

maybe try a dish soap that eliminates grease. call a groomer and ask for ideas. they will probably know more than random strangers online :-)
