Why crawl around fields looking for landmines. If they let a herd of cows into the field they would find the mines with no danger to human life.

Wow, don't know if I should laugh or be puzzled with your choice of question. But the other hand you have made a fair point.

Yes of course it would be better if humans didn't have to do it, but i think releasing cows into a field full of land mines seems a bit inhuman and contrary to RSPCA rules. Anyway don't know where I read this, but there is a robot that's is powered by a control that you can send out there to do this job. I think that would be a better choice than cows and less messy to say the least!

Because, unlike sheep and humans, cows actually look at what they eat. If you are a beetle, you will know what I am talking about,. Imagine being on your way from the nest to a pile of dung and you look up and there's these huge eyes looking down on you and wondering - should I eat it? Like wow man, donlt go there! So cows look at what they eat before they eat it, and they are definitely not partial to mines. Did I mention that they have X-ray vision, and can see the things through several feet fo earth? Well, yes. Now my colleague who trained the cows was on the right lines, but unfortunately what the coes ended up saying was bog off, I'm not going to step on that mine for you! So, the human race is not going to be sved by cows, except in the manner fo milk. We will have to rely on sheep instead.

Of course another solution could be to not put the mines there in the first place. Ask a cow or a sheep or a beetle and they will all agree. It's only humans who haven't thought of that!

Because it's cruel. I can see what you're saying, but the method of crawling on the ground poking away with your bayonet is a tad dated. Modern troops use detecting equipment and minesweeper vehicles to clear minefields. They also use remote controlled robots too. More efficient than cows...

We would have the SPCA and ACLU in court defending the cows. Cows are pro-choice, they prefer grassy fields with no Dems and no land mines. LOL.

A better idea would have Dems find the mines. That's a better choice.

I have a better idea. The jails of the US and UK are briming over with child molesters and child murderers - they can do it and solve 2 problems at the same time - what to do with 'em and finding landmines.

EDIT: For those worried about the loss of human life; don't - the "people" mentioned above aren't human.

That would be harmful to innocent animals.

Plus, they don't have any excess cattle in many parts of the world! People need cows for food and milk, not to be used to find weapons.

In the Falklands sheep rome free cos it's a Island and they dont swim the fact that some got blew up by mines was because why spend lots of time and money clearing land that no one walks on anyway....
And most of you are missing the obvious answer....Let the Bas*tards who planted them find them...then film it on your mobile and stick it on U-tube..

Sheep were used in The Falklands. May sound harsh, but surely better than losing human life?
