Various things can cause dry eyes. The most common is staring at something too long. For example, when most people read, watch tv, or are on the computer for too long, they tend not to blink properly and the eyes dry out. Some medical conditons can cause dry eyes as can the aging process (check the website webmd.com for more information). Many older people suffer from dry eyes. Dry air from indoor heating systems and air conditioners can also cause dry eyes and skin.
