It is WW II.
One of the reasons it was call a World War was the fact that most of the world was involved. Very few nations remained neutral.
Switzerland is one I can think of.

Yes, there were soldiers in WWII. Australian, Belgian, Canadian, Chinese, Dutch, Finnish, Indian, New Zealanders, Polish, and South African too!
