Yes, they can, it will just be for the alias name but they do know a face and will probably try to obtain a picture if it is possible. Alias or not, the warrant will be real and the police will really be watching. They will probably have one of the witnesses describe the person who hit the officer to have a picture made up and hence that person will be wanted by face as well as by name.

I don't think so, but they don't need one right away. They already have probable cause to make the arrest; they can make a warrnatless arrest and apply for the warrant after he's in custody and identified.

Also, if they don't KNOW it's an alias, they may get the warrant under that name. If they do, it'll be valid under Good Faith.

in warrants they don't really need names...they can just identify the guy with the testimony of the witnesses...besides,they won't really need a warrant because hitting a police officer is a serious offense

Both the guy and the friend need to be dragged in to an alley and beaten until they decide to trun themselves in. Forget the warrants, whats is needed here is some curbside justice for the officer. I hope you get just what you deserve!

Of course, even if they don't know any name, it can be issued as a "john doe" warrant.

many people the first time they are arrested lie about who they are and are arrested under a fake name, in the system even.
After they are arrested the indictment can be admended to the correct name
