.You should get paid for walking dogs, well, feeding cats is less work than walking dogs.See it as a favor, noone does anything for anyone for free now a days, maybe one day you'll need their help, who knows.

I think it depends on what kind of a relationship that you have with these people. Do they do anything for you that might be considered returning the favor? Would you even feel comfortable asking for payment? People do get paid to do what you do, but I'm not sure that you can suddenly ask for payment now when you've been doing this for free for years. That decision will have to be based on how close you are with these people (is your relationship more old friends or casual acquaintences?) and if they do similar favors for you free of charge. If feeding their cats is an inconvenience for you, or something you dread, I would ask about payment, although the payment doesn't have to be money. They could agree to use their snowblower on your driveway, or babysit your kids for some special occasion. Taking the money out of the mix will make the asking for payment less uncomfortable and perhaps offensive, but you'll still feel like you've earned something.

It depends- are you trying to build up experience as a pet sitter? Then no. If you are doing this for them and they never do anything in return for you, yes. It is rude of them not to offer you any money. It is ok to refuse it, but usually when I feed someone's pet for a week or so, they give me $10.
If all you are doing is putting food down once a day, don't expect much.
If you want to, you can ask them to provide a little bit, but it could also cause some strain between neighbors if they think you should be doing it pro bono.

Yes - you should get paid. You are doing a HUGE service for them - Maybe in the beginning there was a miscommunication and they thought that you wouldn't accept money. I would just go about it from a different angle now - you could make up fliers about starting a "pet sitting" service in your neighborhood and give them one - this will be a suttle hint about them needing to pay. good luck

I believe you should get paid.
Because evry year they say to themselves let her take care of them...she does a good job and we don't even have to pay her.
Tell them that now you want to save up money and want to be paid and they won't have to think twice because you have doing it for years
i wish you the best

p.s
think about what you want.
do you want to be paid even though they are good people .
or do you feel that it is just a favor.

If you have been doing this for years, it would probably be rude to ask for any sort of payment. I don't see why this cannot be considered just a courtesy to your neighbors.

On the other hand, since you have been doing this for years, they probably owe you something - if not money, maybe a favor or three.

it seems that you do it out of the kindness of your heart:) and i'm sure they really trust and appreciate all of your help. money is not always important, being a kind-hearted person is. i would'nt want or expect to get paid, especially since you've been doing this for them for years.
