There are low cost pet clinics in most cities.
They offer the same services as regular vets & charge a heck of a lot less.
Also - the humane society may provide vet services.

When your friend got his dog, he took on the responsibility of caring for him/her. While yes, surgery is expensive, there are several options that he has. Have him search the internet and he will find that there are some places that will help with the cost of the surgery. He can also contact vets in or around his area to see if they have payment plans. There is also something called Care Credit. Care Credit is a credit card that you can use not only for human medical care but they also allow you to use the card for vet care. He can apply online. I have the card for my pets in the off chance that they become injured or seriously ill. If he continues to let the dog suffer, he can get in serious trouble for failing to provide medicla care.

You won't find a vet to do it for cheap- Surgeries cost money, with most of the cost going into anesthesia and the use of sterile equipment. The only way to really cut costs is to go to a not so experienced doctor- and removing a leg is something you want an experienced one to do.
You can get care credit (www.carecredit.com) which is a low interest credit card for medical emergencies only.

Instead of dragging e time, letting the poor dog suffer. i think u should inform the local authority like 'action for dogs' those non-profitable organisation who's out there to save poor animals. See if they could help anyway.. Quick!

You definately dont want to do it yourself, the dogs pain crys will be enough to make any man feel like ****. Best to take him to a veterenarian so he can work his magic, rather than totally traumatize a dog for life man. Trust me... It aint pretty, I feel bad almost every day. Get a loan man... whatever you can do, dont be in the same boat as me whatever you do, its not a good thing. Don't regret it for the rest of your life...

Um... I think it's time for a shot gun lobotomy. A few pennies on a bullet is alot cheaper than surgery, and the animal should probably be put down at this point anyway. It would be the most humane thing to do if you can't get it proper medical care.
