Unless you buy it with a new machine with at least 2GB of memory and the drivers are all optimized for Vista (and many are still not), test are showing machine are running slower on Vista. If you have XP right now, stay with it...it is not worth an upgrade to Vista. Wait at least until the first service pack comes out to remotely consider the upgrade.

It is way better. It is awesome, especially if you get home premium or ultimate.

Home premium is cheaper and you get a lot of things like...
Corel Picture Editing Program
Windows Media Center
1.0 GB of RAM 1.8 GHz
It requires high performanced computers.
Strong Graphics Card (Nvidia is the best!)

You even get a choice if you want popups!
I love the new detail on it. The bar on the bottom with the taskbar and quick launch, you could see the stuff under it. Also for the top of pages. BUY IT!

I'd wait till service pack 2 comes out. Seems to take at least that long to make a microsoft product bearable to operate.

Yes, it is more secured and more advanced all together, but like any other OS that microsoft creates, I would give it at least 1 year before installing it.
