I'm having problems installing my talk talk broadband software... basically, I've followed the step by step instructions exactly and everything seems to be fine until i get to the modem connection page (see step 28) http://www.talktalk.co.uk/talktalk/servlet/gben-server-PageServer?ARTICLE=MAIN.UK.TALKTALK.STATIC.HELP.BBHELP.MODEM#Modem
I get as far as here and i get the success icon for connected to modem but i get a failure icon for 'connected to network'. This is strange because i get the message in my toolbar saying 'connected to talk talk broadband' which i understood to mean that i was connected to the network. Anyway, can anyone help? To add some info if it's useful, I'm using a usb cable rather than an ethernet (could this be it?). I also read that it could be the microfilters but I've changed them and still no luck. Any help would be appreciated!

Check that the firewall/security software ( which is only trial anyway, so best not installed in the first place) is not blocking you. Switch them off, and/or if necessary remove the lot and reinstall selecting the 'No' option when prompted in step 7.

If you have a LAN port, then the better option is to connect via lan rather than USB. That way, not only
do you not have to install USB drivers, but the connection does tend to be faster and more stable.

Depending on the modem, check the status lights.
They'll tell you whether the connections are good
or not.

If all else fails, as in talking to Customer Services or
Technical ( always you first point of call ), feel free to
advise the modem make via mail off answers. I'll see if
can assist further.

hey... you could be all day trying to sort this out... not sure exactly whats going on with your kit but think the best answer would be to give Talk Talk a call and explain to them what problems your having and let them talk you through the correct way to set it all up !

I'm with TT and I set my broadband up first time & all was ok, also using a usb cable & supplied filters so would assume they are all ok.

best a luck mate...
