he has temporary custody of my neice his history includes drug, spousal abuse and child abuse here in california he now lives in ohio apparently they don't do back round checks for other states anyways my brother is trying to get his daughter back ohio wants him to take a mental evaluation test i am pissed i need to know what can i do to have my neice taken from his home. he's also an alcoholic and i don't think he's appropriate parent material i would appreciate andy advice you could give. thanks

You have to call social services in his state and explain everyting and file a report. Tell them that the brother wants his child back and then he will have to find a lawyer to do the legal stuff, call legal aide. Once he speaks to a lawyer the lawyer will give him direction how to do things properly. You have to call social services in ohio you wont be able to do it in california. Another thing he could do is call the none emergecy police nuber and ask them if they have any ideas of how you can get the child back. Also look at the custody papers and look for a clause that states if he even has permission to take the child out of state.Take care Heather

You have to call child services in ohio. Offer to send them copies of any legal documents you have on this issue. Put them in contact with cps in california. By law all calls have to be investigated. Let them to the work. You could also get a lawyer and persue custody of your niece yourself. This will end your relationship with the father, but you have to do what is best for your niece. Stay in contact with your niece.If in Ohio you will have to contact Ohio Child services an they should be able to help you.If your niece is in threat or abuse have her call 911 they will help get out of the house?? Keep up hope.

Have you done anything yet? There are of course ways to get a person/child out of circumstances like this. You are SO aware of what is going on, keep at it, you seem to be the only one (?)
who knows what ´must be done. Please, don´t give up, you good person.

just call and report your concerns. talk with your neice and see what is going on.............. If she needs to be saved you have to step up .....
