They are sure because they don't want to believe anything else. Rationality has nothing to do with it. They are indoctrinated since birth and have been emotionally manipulated since. They can rationalize away the most vile writings as long as it supports their belief. Faith = emotional bondage.

That's a totally fair question. It's like asking, after reading a newspaper article, "why should we assume this is true?"
I can't answer this for all Christians, only for myself.
I don't "hang my hat" merely on the words of the bible, but on Jesus Christ himself. In other words, my faith is based on the authority and work of Jesus, not on the paper and ink.
Now, I can study the historical testimony of Jesus and the early church in the New Testament and I don't see anything that is out of the question. I question it, test it, and believe it. Some people who ask questions such as yours have never studied the New Testament books and letters and don't really know what they are questioning.
Here's my suggestion. Read the book of John (or any for that matter). See what it says. Develop questions around that and look for the answers. What I find consistently throughout the NT is grace, restoration, new life, love, peace, and hope. Pretty exciting stuff worth questioning. It could be the most important thing we ever learn. Then again, you still might not believe it but I'm pretty sure that you won't fear those who do.
May God bless your search!

First of all, seriously use spell check and learn how to write a sentence. I can barely understand what you're saying
I think you need to be careful before you lump people together and assume every "Christian," believes the same thing...
Of those who call themselves Christians, so believe that the bible is 100% accurate, some thing it's pretty accurate, and some think it's kind of a guide line but is mainly stories.
And there is solid evidence that the Bible and the life of Jesus is true. Things such as the Dead Sea Scrolls, artifacts from that time, and the Vatican has thousands if not millions of official records from that time...
And not everyone exaggerates about the things they love.
Ultimately, faith is the evidence of things unseen. It's true you have to have a certain amount of faith without absolute proof to be a Christian, but that doesn't mean there isn't any proof. There's no more proof that the Bible isn't true.

Almost all biblical scholars agree that the New Testament documents were all written before the close of the first century. If Jesus was crucified in 30 A.D., then that means that the entire New Testament was completed within 70 years. This is important because it means there were plenty of people around when the New Testament documents were written who could have contested the writings. In other words, those who wrote the documents knew that if they were inaccurate, plenty of people would have pointed it out. But, we have absolutely no ancient documents contemporary with the first century that contest the New Testament texts.
We have a fragment of the gospel of John that dates back to around 29 years from the original writing. This is extremely close to the original writing date. This is simply unheard of in any other ancient writing and it demonstrates that the Gospel of John is a first century document.
The New Testament writers were certainly biased, but their bias was towards honesty and truth, not deceit. Their intention was to accurately record and testify to the events that they had seen. Remember, the disciples were followers of Jesus who taught them to love, to be kind, faithful, and honest. And this wasn't all. Jesus warned against hypocrisy (Matt. 6:1, and against bearing false witness (Matt. 19:18).
Of course, just because eyewitnesses wrote about Jesus rising from the dead does not mean it actually happened. This is true, but why would the disciples lie about this? Why would they risk their lives, their families, their cultural ties, and even end up dying for it all if they knew it was all a lie developed out of their "bias"? It doesn't make sense. But what does make sense is that the disciples were telling the truth.

Scholarship and academic study are available to believer and non-believer alike. The accuracy of the books of the Bible are supported by archaeology and ancient histories, many written by non-Christians, to name two sources. Some books of the Bible were written by contemporaries of Jesus and they wrote about someone they knew. Where there is outside repeated documentary support, to continue to doubt its accuracy is ignorance. You don't have to believe in God to understand that the Bible is accurate.
In our courts in the USA, we send people to prison for life or hand out the death penalty on less evidence than is available to support the truth of the Bible.
Re the Da Vinci Code, I challenge you to find comparable historical evidence. It's been searched after for hundreds of years and it just is not there. If one is determined to deny the Bible, no amount of proof will change their mind, but apparently they will buy into a modern movie. Go figure.

The New Testament was written by people that walked and talked with Him. Their testimony if you will. It was put together before the last Apostle died, in A.D.100. Every writer of the Epistles was verified by the other writers of the Epistles, this is the internal witness. We know that, without a shadow of a doubt, The King James Bible is the Word of God is because the Dead Sea Scrolls were found and they verify it. There are over 5,000 ancient documents that match the KJV of the Bible. God Himself said that He would keep His Word Pure and Preserved!! Yes, I do not put my trust in what men say, I can completely Trust What the Bible says.

Because God is all powerful and can retain the context of the Bible with no problem. Because, when I became a Christian, I was given the gift of the Holy Spirit who never lies. Because the DaVinci Code is just a fictional book/movie that blasphemes my Lord. Because the men God used to pen the Bible were under His guidance. I believe this because I have accepted Jesus into my life and through that God has changed my perceptions.

The Bible was written with the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. The writers did not just write anything they felt like. They were truly inspired by the Holy Spirit. Can you prove that the books of other religions are hokey too?
Jesus did not tell his Apostles to write everything down. They thought he was coming back soon and when he didn't, they realized they needed to write down the events that had happened. It was some 70 years later that the New Testament writings were written.

The Bible was inspired by God not written by God. The first book of the Bible is Genesis it is the first book of Moses and it was 1500 years before the birth of Christ...It would be good to study the Bible before you reach your conclusions as to it not being the word of God. The Gospel you refer to as the Bible was the good news of the atonement and resurrection of Christ...While it is possible to foretell of the Gospel as the earlier scriptures did it is not possible to tell of the happening of an actual event until after such event has happened...The Prophets foretold in the Torah and Tanakh. The Gospel was to verify what had been foretold has come to pass. Please read the true word of God and you will surely see God's truth. Jesus did not come to the world to write scripture but to confirm and fufill it.

Sorry to "diss" you, but that is a pretty dumb question. The Bible is the most studied subject ever in the history of man. There are about 25,000 ancient New Testament manuscripts available today. Every variation of even the spelling of names and articles is cataloged. One thing is for sure-any word that may have been changed in some of the manuscripts is obvious, and noted.

That's one of the reasons it's called by Faith.
If everything in the Bible could be proven, for instance in a Court of Law, as true and factual there would be no faith.
