Everyone out there that really wants a pure breed dog, why not go to the rescue sites? They have wonderful, beautiful dogs available for adoption, and are up to date on shots, neutered or spayed, and are really looking for a loving, responsible home,

I have found out through the years that MUTT's can be great dogs. I have had mutts and pure breeds, and I think the mutts bond just the same if not better.

Rescue dogs alot of times are already trained and easier to handle, just make sure of it's temperment before buying it. Bring you kids with you so that you can see how the dog reacts to children. Have fun searching for your favorite mutt in a rescue shelter and give them lots of love.

You are right to a point.....some people want a puppy, to bond with and train from the beginning. SOME (not all) rescues take forever to process the application, and are EXTREMELY stringent on their requirements. Some won't adopt out of their state, and some are very expensive.

Many people don't want to deal with that hassle. But, to side with the rescue, they want the absolute best home possible for the dogs in their care, and I can't blame them for being so hard.

I completely agree with you. Few adoption sites are more expensive than breeders. In fact I don't know any adoption site that charges $100 or more for a purebred animal. Also, with the adoption sites there is very little question on the humanity of the environment for the animals whereas with SOME breeders you are left wondering what kind of place they were running.

Exactly!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't afford another dog but I still go to the lab and german shepherd rescue sites and daydream. Next dog is going to come from a rescue unless there is another abused dog out there that finds it's way to me.

well people give pets away on craigslist all the time but on petsmart they have an adoption service that can help you find pets to your liking that people have had to give up. just click on the adoption section and insert german shepherd into the breed category. I'm certain you'll find a German Shepherd near you.

i completely agree with you. there is no reason for spending tons of money on a pure bread (unless youre planning on showing them) when you can get dogs which are just as good, and needing homes from a shelter! i personally think its kinda of like racism... except with dogs

I agree about going to a rescue but sometimes the price of a rescue is more than buying from a breeder.

More people should check shelters first before going out and buying new puppies.
