# 4 BUCKSHOT not # 4 shot out of a full choke will work 60 -70 yards. Has worked for me in the past @ that range . And i would not want anybody shooting @ my dog up to 90-100 yds.I think the shot will go that far & could kill- but who knows where they will hit !

For every "I killed one at 100 yards" story told, there are many more misses. Buckshot is designed for close up work and not long distance.

The larger #4 buckshot coming out of a full choke will have quite a bit of range as opposed to birdshot. It's basically shooting a bunch of .24 caliber (6mm) bullets. However, it is not the same thing as a .243 rifle. The shot will lose energy and velocity very fast. Max range for a 2 3/4" shell is probably 35-40yards.

* The 20 Gauge will kill anything that the 12 gauge can.* The 20 Gauge is Lighter, and more Comfortable to hunt with all day long.* Velocity of the 20 and 12 gauge are the same.* When it comes to hitting game what matters most is that you aimed properly, and were on the bird or animal, or you were not.* The Gauge has nothing to do with it.* The gauge doesn't matter.*

I hate to say he was lying, but he was lying. Even if a #4 pellet could travel that far, which it can't, there wouldn't be enough kinetic energy to do any damage. There is only 41 pellets in a Remington Express Magnum 3" load and they have a muzzle velocity of 1325 fps. No where near enough to draw blood at 100 yards, let alone 300.

I find it hard to believe considering it would be hard to see at that range. That would be one heck of a shot for a high power rifle with a scope. But a shotgun with no scope hmmmmm. I think he is pulling your chain. Give him another beer and let him entertain you with another story.

It isn't how far you can throw #4 to bloody a dumb beast but rather what you can kill, isn't it? If you want three hundred yards
or more for kills I suggest a rifle. For just wanton bloodlust it is
more sporting to go after something large and lethal. Alaska Griz', California Coug', Cape Buff', but not some poodle eating
coyote ---please!
