I don't care much for the bar scene and am just looking to make friends and date casually. Does anyone have any ideas? Many thanks in advance!

Hi there. Do you have any interests that you would be able to join a group? like bushwalking, bowling, or something. There are alot of singles clubs around to that go on outings once a fortnight/week. that way at least you are meeting people with similar interests to you, and that is a great starting point. You will already have something in common.
Wishing you good luck!

I met my bf while standing in line at a coffe shop....and alot of my friends are meeting people online. I'm with you, the bar scene isn't the best place to meet someone unless your just looking for a one night stand. Go out and join some clubs or something, expand your social group

i do not care for the bar scene either...but there is dating sites but you need to be careful there too...maybe you like skating or a bowling alley...really this is a good question but i am on a dating site but yet afraid to meet them...makes no sense but i do not get out much so what does a person do....maybe there is a friendship group somewhere around you with people your age...

When I first meet a lady in a bar there is no intention of relations just friendship until a mutual understabnding is delveloped.
Most Men go after hot stuff right away...I don't.

The best thing is, is to be very friendly whereever you are. Chat with the person standing behind you, start a conversation with someone at the library. Put on your friendliest face, smile, and ask a person a question.

Join groups that interest you. Do you have hobbies? Join a gym. Do volunteer work. Basically get involved in your community. Most of the people who you would be working with would have similar interests as yourself. With some luck, one of them will be single and interested in you.
Good Luck.
