PS-I also want to lose 50 pounds or more by November, and also want to shave my head and beard, or go blonde, which would be better on me?

I agree that diet pills are a bad idea. And I wonder how many people have had their health utterly ruined by them.

What you do about your hair and beard is up to you, so whatever rocks your boat!

I don't know where you're starting from weight-wise, so use a bit of caution.
1) Drink water. It will keep you from dehydrating and help keep you from feeling hungry.
2)Cut back on fried and fast foods. Those are loaded with grease and fat.
3)Try eating more whole grains, and more fruits and vegetables. Some whole-grain breads are actually very tasty!
4)Take your time eating: Your stomach needs about 20 minutes to realize that it's full. When you are full (not stuffed!) stop eating.
5)Exercise. That will build muscle and burn off fat. There are a number of excellent programs out there.

Good luck!

There is no magic formula and everything you have been taught about food is a lie promulgated by people who stand to gain financially.

Think about weight like a checking account. If you deposit more money (food) than you spend (calories) your checking account (you) gets bloated, a problem that we could all use I'm sure (grin). So eat less and work out more. Lift weights to build your muscle mass which will burn calories while you sleep. After lifting, do some time on the treadmill or stairmaster.

Next, watch what you eat. Eat more protein and veggies than carbs. You need to start eating REAL food. I have 2 basic rules, 1) if it comes in a package it is bad for you, and 2) if it wasn't food 100 years ago, it is NOT food today. NEVER eat fast food, even chicken. It is injected with all kinds of stuff you don't want to know about. The trans-fats they use stay with you and they are very hard to lose. Start looking at labels. Corn Syrup is poison and it is the 1st or 2nd ingredient in a lot of foods, it will make you very fat. Go Organic, watch what you buy and try and buy it from local farmers instead of the grocery store. There are groups called CSA's that you can join. (Community Supported Agriculture.) All my food comes from farms within 100 miles of Atlanta, veggies, chicken, beef and even real raw milk (YUM!). And we now know the farmers personally.

It's funny, people will spend more time researching the mechanic that works on their car that they will researching where their food comes from. Most just "trust" the stores and the government to get it right. Dumb!

Here are some resources. It will change your life.

The best way to lose weight is to start a workout schedule and stick to it. Plan to work out 30-45 minutes a day 5 days a week. You'll need to get your heart rate up, so be sure to get an okay from your doctor before you start. Then, make sure to eat 3-4 meals a day, but eat good foods. Don't skip meals as this just slows the metabolism rate and defeats the purpose. Don't eat too many carbs, but do get to know the difference between good carbs and bad carbs. Try eating your protein foods first before the rest of your meal. Carry a zipper bag of raw almonds if you like them. They are a great source of protein and very good for you. Don't forget to drink water. If you don't like water, try adding a squeeze of fruit into it. I don't concentrate on "dieting" because that word seems to do something to our brains that makes us feel hungrier. I do discourage checking your weight more that once a month. Remember, fat weighs less than muscle, so you will gain weight in the beginning. As for the hair question, Shave it. If you don't like it, it will grow back faster than growing out the blond.

Well, that's good since no diet pill has actually been proven effective.

You simply need to consume fewer calories than you consume. A 3500 calorie deficit will equal 1 lb of fat lost.

So, if you burn 2000 calories a day and only eat 1500, you are losing 500 calories a day, which is 3500 calories a week, and thus one pound a week. If you want to lose faster, burn more, eat less.

Good luck

Best way to lose the weight is to exercise...that means keeping your heart rate above 100 for about 30 mintues a day a few times a week up to every day. You also want to find out how many caleries your body requires, and then eat less than that.

I don't know about the hair and all but exercies for weight loss is key. You have to be intense enough that you burn more fat and calories than you take in. Walking or jogging with resistance training to get started. If you have a treadmill, you can get on it every morning. Start doing some pushups and sit ups too. Just get on a good routine and stick to it. No junk food or sodas.

Nourish your body thin, instead of starving your body fat. Good carbs like celery and carrots will never make you fat. Bad carbs like cake will, but you don't need to know the whole science of glycemic load. You need to re-learn how to eat so you can become thin and healthy. Salt has no calories but makes you fat and burning more calories does not help this fatness.

Don't shave your head; it's not sexy. Don't grow a beard; it's not sexy! Try being a blonde, that's ok.

Lose weight by increasing your exercise and cutting down on carbohydrates.

Good idea about shaving your head and beard. Otherwise if you lose all that weight, you will look like a toilet brush.
