You'll see it said a million times on here .... you cannot spot reduce. Meaning if you have fat in a certain area, working that area more will not remove the fat in that area. That being said, you can reduce your overall body fat that will at some point reduce it in the desired area. Start by finding a way to cut 250 calories a day from your diet. That can be done in many easy ways such as going to diet soda to skipping on a piece of cake. Next, find a way to burn 350-500 calories more a day. The combination of these two things will help you lose weight the right way and before summer. Each pound of fat requires you to deficit your body 3500 calories; this can be done by either diet or exercise but should be done with a combination of both. To answer your other question, I would use a combination of the bike and treadmill. Try to do 20 minutes on each, as slow as you need to go initially until you feel comfortable. Those very minor changes will help you with your goals....Good Luck !

The elliptical trainer is best for fast calorie burning and for toning the butt if you have an incline set rather high.
It is impossible to burn fat faster in one area over another
by design.
Your body will generally lose fat everywhere at once, with some areas shedding fat slightly faster or slower than others. You cannot control this.

I would recommend that you rotate workouts between the treadmill & the elliptical. In addition to the workouts try to cut back on your calories a bit and you should see some real results in just 1-2 weeks. Good luck. Below is a guide to convert treadmill mph to running pace.

Some of the treadmills have a calorie burning calculator built in, try working out on one like that. You must burn 4000 cal to lose one pound.

I think the treadmill is one of the better for burning fat. You do have to get the pace up enough to get your heart rate up in order for it to be effective. This will help burn fat regardless of where it is on your body. Watch the junk food and sodas and you can do it.
