Nasal decongestants are not working and I can't breath AT ALL to be able to try to inhale steam or such.I have so much pressure when I try to blow my nose and only seem to pop my ears with very little coming out of my nose. I'm desperate for a suggestion because I really can't afford to go the dr.

just keep blowing. Get an Over the Counter nasal spray, that should help a lot.

Take hot showers. Drink 8 oz of water and hour. Keep inhaling steam. Run a humidifier. Try buying Guiaffesin (this probably isn't spelled right, it's the active ingredient in Mucinex, but you can buy it generically)

If it doesn't clear up in 7-10 days you really need to see the doctor, you probably have a sinus infection, which will need to be treated with anti biotics.

You could have a severe sinus infection and may need antibiotics. I was like that last winter and I bought ZiCam Nasal spray. It worked great! It was the one with the green label not the red label. that was last year though. It was for congestion, not cold prevention. But nasal sprays over the counter work great for that type of congestion. If that doesnt work I would definitely go to the dr and get an antibiotic. Get Well Soon :)

I'm not a doctor but I'll tell you what I do.
1. I use saline nasal spray.
2. If they are really bad I put salt into bathroom basin with warm water and suck it up my nose.
SOUNDS GROSS BUT IT WORKS.
3. Eat horseradish on a sandwich....WOW!
4. Take vibrator and rub from bridge of nose along cheek bone to temple area. It can acrually make you sneeze if done right.
I have had to use all of these methods. I live not only in the bible belt, but, what is commonly called the sinus belt.
Good Luck and God Bless!

Without a doctor you are stuck with antihistamine pills and nasal antihistamine sprays which block histamine, one of the most important mediators of the allergic response.

With a doctor, you could try nasal corticosteroid sprays which reduce and control the impact of many of the mediators that can cause inflammation in the nose.

One last option you can try with over the counter stuff: read the custom formula this guy did:

Try vicks vapor rub on your chest if you can stand it, if not put some on a wash cloth and leave the jar open above your head on your head board at night, also try a hot wash cloth on your face. Besides the nasal sprays or nasal washes, this helps me sometimes.

Make a fist and place it under your armpit. I know it sounds weird but place it under you armpit and leave it there. Physiologically what happens is that your fist causes you shoulder to pull on the tendons and muscles that run up through your shoulder and into your neck. These in turn are attached to your ear and nasal passage......sound weird I know but give it a try

Hot steaming soup that's incredibly spicy. Or if you like sushi, use lots of wasabi. If this happens often, better go and see a doctor, don't just self-medicate as there may be a block in your sinuses.
