The majority of Christians don't think. You're asking too much of them:-(

The teacher did not use very good tact in trying to complement the essay she received. Probably was not intended to put the girl down, but it did anyway. Giving a broad choice for an essay would have been better. How will you spend your vacation? One time I worked with children and one did not celebrate Christmas while most of the others did. There were always two choices so that if you didn't celebrate Christmas you could always pick something not related to Christmas.Teachers aren't to evangelize students.I don't agree with the pastor or his wife in their approach. He really gave Christians a black eye. He would have been much smarter if he had complemented the mother on the great essay her daughter wrote. Since it sounds as if that family had more than their share of trouble, maybe he could have asked if their was anything anyone could have done to help them such as a ride to the doctor. One has to have compassion for that minister who does more harm even to his own cause and pray he learns. He is being an over zealot which does not reflect Christ.

The teacher was wrong. I know many caring and compassionate Atheists. In fact I think Atheists in some cases are MORE caring than Christians are, based on the belief that this life is all we get, there is nothing else, so we have to improve the quality of it a great deal.

Unfortunately, being "nice" isn't what gets you into Heaven, ya know?
