In the Army you can get your MOS, enlistment bonus, and schooling (ie Ranger, Air Borne, ect..) in your enlistment contract; can you do so in a USMC enlistment contract?

Yes, you can specify MOS and first duty station in the Corps. When I was in, there weren't enlistment bonuses. But, that was in '94, so that may have changed.

What they do is tell you to pick a sub catergory or pick your three most wnated and they try to put you were they want to but they can stick you where ever they want, take infantry, you say infantry but they assign you riffleman, machinegunner, mortar man, or antitank. So you get into infantry on your contract but which job in infantry is decided on the USMC needs. Plus they really dont do a good jobs on bonuses, I am prior service amry and when I went back I tried the marines I got my contract and the day before I was to shipp I changed my mind. The Army is way better on giving you what you want, its in a contract and you know first off what you will do and when you are able to leave, the MArines just tell you what you can do and you have to worry all through boot.

You can specify a job but it may not be available and they will then put you in something they say is similar. My friend's cousin went into the Mairine Corps to do paralegal work, but after basic training they told her they didn't have any billets for that and made her a postal clerk, which she hates.
