I loved the German beers when I was over there.
I live in the USA, the mass produced beer here is not much more than flavored water.
I too prefer micro-brews.
Samuel Adams and Otter Creek Brewery brew some really good beers that I can get locally.

If you live in or around the bay area, try Prohibition beers, especially the Big Daddy IPA.
It has become my absolute favorite. Prohibition is a local brewery in San Francisco.

Guinness draught, Murphy's, Boddington's, and alot of home brews. Unfortunatly here in the US there are very few comercial beers made worth drinking, and american beer (coors, michelob, budwiesers) can barely even qualify as beer. It is made of mostly rice and corn, ugh! Beer should be made from barley! There are many other good brands out there but in most bars in this area you have little choice other than budwieswer, coors, miller, etc.
