i've liked him since the first time i saw him, but he is very shy and i probably scared him so i stopped flirting with him and we just became friends. We have been friends for over 2 years now but i still have strong feelings for him and can't seem to shake it off... i don't even want to date other guys. We hang out and chat. About 18 months ago we had a drunken night and i confessed to him that i had had a crush on him for some time. He said he had noticed and hinted that he had similar feelings for me. We had a drunken kiss but i got scared and made up some excuse and went home. We have staid friendly since them. Now i think its too late for us and we are doomed to just stay friends. How can i tell him i'm actually in love with him without getting drunk first?

If he is really your best friend then you should be able to tell him.

Your possibly heading down a road you dont want to head down. One or both of you (if something doesnt give) will become resentful of the other.

Youve waited two years for him to make a move. Then when something happens when you get drunk you finally do something. Well guess what? you need to do something now when your not drunk. Time for being scared is over. If you care about this guy (obviously the feelings are mutual) you need to speak up! Dont just allow life to pass you by because both of you are scared. If hes not going to be "the man" youll need to be. i hope im not sounding harsh. But your missing an opportunity here and dont just let it slip away from you.

If you two are such close friends it should be easy to just sit down and talk. You don't have to actually talk all about liking him, just work it into what you are saying. Make sure he realizes what he means to you and everything should go fine. You seem to have a strong bond and for all you know he could feel the same way. Good luck.

say "hey, remember that night i opened up my heart to u and I confessed how i really feel about you,the more than friends kind of feelings, and you said you had similar feelings?Well I was wanting to continue that conversation, now that we are both sober,so we can stop ignoring and avoiding the awkward feelings I know we are having,by not confronting it,,and I know we have enough respect for one another to not let it carry on this way"If he acts like he doesnt know what your are talking about, then there's your answer.I hope he isn't dating anyone when u talk to him ,becuase that wouldn't be fair to the other persons feelings.,or if you are dating someone already, that would be showing him that u cant be trusted with others feelings.,like his, Know what i'm saying?GOOD LUCK!!

You mentioned several times that you got scared. Either you don't want to run the risk of losing the friendship if the love thing doesn't work out or you realize in your heart that this really isn't love that you're feeling.

The same way you told everyone, come straight out and say it, maybe he feels the same about you and is scared to speak up.
Do it before its too late spend and you spend the rest of your life wondering what might have been

Just ask him if he's planning on asking you out on a date. If he offers up something you've done before as friends, tell him you want to do something new for your first real date.

Just remain friends first and gradually you can tell him your feelings.

Repeat what you said here. Honesty will probably work best.
