No!.... This "Global Warming" and now the changed name to suit the extreme cold most of the nation is going through is now called "Climate Change"...... This is all a political stunt for the "Green" and the Socialists to try and stop capitalism...... They hate it that America is the most economically secure nation in the world and this is just another avenue for them to try and stop America's economic success.

The Earth is just like every other planet in the universe.... It goes through warming and cooling periods as it ages..... The Earth expands and contracts and that is what causes our weather to change..... Not Man!.... We have not been around long enough nor do we take up enough land mass to cause the weather to change.... To think so is pretty pious!

The Earth has been NATURALLY warming and cooling long before man ever stood erect on this planet. The polar ice caps have been melting for thousands of years before we even showed up. This fight is really getting old because it is a political agenda that many have signed onto without relying on and omitting real scientific data. Study planetary science and you will find that what we are going through is not man made.

If you wait a few years just like everything else these scientist say they will change their minds and revert back to that we are about to enter another "Ice Age" just as they said during the 1970's.

Thi first thing to happen is losing a big part of the mainland but that is just a small fraction of what we will suffer if we don't do anything to change our life and fix whatever we can.

For those who doubt the facts about global warming - just look around!!! I live in a city where there was snow from November till March. Now there is no snow and it is February! It snowed just once this year and the snow melted on the same day. This has never happened before in the past.

If the only results from global warming were Califoria weather in London (as someone here mentioned) - then I would be ok with that. But no. The results would be catastrophic, changing entirely the life on Earth the way we know it. So the least thing we can all do is think about it well and see what we can all do.

Do nothing and we will all die.

Mind you, eveyone dies eventually, so that isn't really an issue. Climate change is happening already. There was a good program on the BBC the other day (David Attenborough was in it) showing how global temperatures are rising as a result of mans influence.

What can we do? Basically, we should try and balance our lifestyles such that our actions have no impact (either positive or negative) on our environment. Sounds easy, but it isn't! The easiest way to do this is not to exist, though I don't for a moment condone wiping out the human race (though some people might)...

If just one person reduces their emissions and trys to be carbon neutral, then there will be no measurable effect. However, if we all try and improve the way we live, then we will have a marked effect and in time we will be able to prevent permenant damage to the environment and, so, stop climate change.

So, do your best! Follow the 3 'R's: reduce, re-use and recycle. Don't waste energy, don't squander resources, and encourage others to do the same!

This will help. But we all must "do our bit".

Global warming is at the fore front because politicians found how to use a new platform to get re-elected. The world leaders use it because they found ways to make money at it. This is a made up problem just like Global Cooling in the 1970's. Wake up people. I agree we need to be more efficient with our resources, and we should fine and jail companies who are dumping into our rivers maliciously. I want to stop the raiforest destruction, but to say that global warming is a serious man made issue and we need to destroy the American economy and bow down to the rest of the world certainly does not float my boat. Follow the money on this one and you will see that it is all for political gain and grant money for those scientists who profit off of the government if global warming stays at the front of the issues. Look deep into the Keoto (sp?) Treaty, first of all they took jets to a non-central resort location. Not very environmentally concious. THen in the parameters of the treaty they have a clause that makes it so you can buy or sell polution credits. This is all about shifting wealth and breaking down the United States. This is painfully obvious, just look at peoples agenda. The earth's mean temperature has risen .6 degrees C in the past 125 years. Greenland's icecaps have gotten colder in the past 10 years. The Scientists who do not gain anything on their posisition will tell you that the earth has a natural progression and this is what we are seeing. The UN report is made up of POLITICIANS not a good spread of scientists. THere are as many or more scientists who believe that man in NOT the reason and it is over hyped, but their voice is not heard in the LIberal Mainstream Media. This issue is 99% political, and an attempt to make the USA a socialist nation, and eventually communisim. WAKE UP AMERICA, IT IS TIME TO BE AMERICANS. FOR THE PEOPLE BY THE PEOPLE. STOP THE LIES

Climate change is already happening. The whole thing is like rolling a snow ball down a hill. It gathers speed and it gathers size. These issues where raised twenty years ago and no one listened. They were raised again as a matter of urgency at the Kyoto convention...and where ignored again. Nothing is actually done to stop the problems we're facing. Nothing is done to stop the pollution of rivers, to stop desertification and the change of climate (among many other things). There is still money to be made so nothing will change!

Our climate is changing now and we have to learn to adapt to hotter climates and fiercer storms by building better insulated houses in the right positions. Learn better ways to conserve water and generate electricity. We need to focus forward and come up with ideas on how these things can be done instead of fighting over whether climate change is actually happening.

The Earth has been gowing through warming cooling periods for billions of years. There is nothing we can do to stop that.

Man's activities do contribute to global warming, in a realatively small amount. Even if we some stopped all of these activities there warming would still occur.

I don't know either, but I'm wondering why Al Gore thinks that flying tons of equipment and hundreds of people around the world will help stop global warming. It's a colossal waste of fossil fuels.
