don't let your hand be idle!! that's what i do too everytime i got nothing to do, then i start to peeling my skin off my finger tips, and before i realised, it bleeds already. Get a pencil and doodle or something when you have the urge to peel your skin.

Make it a point to notice when you start doing it..Probably stress related.. Another thing.. Get a nail clipper and never touch your nails etc..with out the clipper. Use a good hand softener too.. Wash your hands and apply the softner after every washing. Try some Neosporin@ to help heal your finger tips.. Just make sure you notice when the peeling starts..

How about putting bandaids on your finger tips when you are at home? Put some vaseline on them first to start the healing then put the finger tip bandaids on so you can't get at them.

Make sure you have something to do with your fingers all the time, like drawing or doodling, crossword puzzles....anything to keep your fingers busy. When you aren't home keep a pen in your hands to play with or even a stress ball.

It's just a bad habit you need to break.

i do this to, im trying to stop. sometimes i even put on gloves to make it stop. i think there is some ocd in this, a doctor told me it was. i use to take zoloft which made me stop doing this. maybe you could get medication to help you with this if it is that hard to stop. bandaids do not work, ive tried that. i wash my hands a lot from having ocd, and the band aids fall off, and then i just peel around the band aid anyway.

My wife and I both baby-sit and house sit. I wash dishes constantly and wash floors, the old way, includes washing clothes. My hands are in water all the time, with bleach, detergents etc. My finger peel also. So do my wife's, changing diapers all the time for twins and other things to keep the hands wet.
We both use Vaseline at night to rub into our hands and let them soak. It helps for the time being and soothes the soreness. Try it.

And peeling is not gross? Please tell your parents that you are mutilating yourself so you can get some help.
