If you can afford it, try proactive. I have suffered with acne since I was 10-11 years old. I tried proactive about 3 years ago and it works great. I have tried everything in the book. Home remedies, lotions, potions etc. When you first get proactive it takes a month or so before you see results. You may think that its not working but by the second month, I was cleared up and cannot remember the last time I've had so much as a pimple show up.
Good luck!

If you can, I would recommend seeing a dermatologist and requesting Accutane. It usually takes 5 months of treatment but the results are amazing. You simply take a pill twice a day for 5 months. You don't have to use anything else on your skin during that time. It won't be instant but it gradually clears and when you're done...it's fantastic.
I had acne all over my face for years. Nothing worked. I tried every OTC product, every prescription product, proactiv, and still nothing until Accutane. It's been 7 yrs now and my skin is still clear.

try and use the same range of products, i use nivea young cleanser, toner and moisturiser and that really works well-especially as our skin is young! also i use tea tree oil face mask every week as well, its from the body shop and is a little tub, that helps cos u can feel ure skin tingle as its cleaning the pores. also if i have a bad spot i pop it before going to bed and use a tea tree stick on it, also from the body shop-it looks like lip gloss, and it reduces the swelling and makes it heal quicker!!!
hope this helps, good luck xx
ps the body shop website is www.the-body-shop.com and all their products are natural and they dont test their products on animals!

You are right to be confused as there is no instant cure for acne although many treatments are available to relieve it.
Topical, applied to the skin, acts by unblocking the pores and removing sebum and helps promote healing. These include benzoyl, peroxide, retinoic, acid, antibiotic lotions and sulphur containing creams! If topical treatment has failed long term therapy with oral antibiotics often helps, the antibiotics being prescribed regularly for up to six months at a time. These have an effect on inflammatory cells in acne spots as well as on sebum production.
A third remedy is by use of retinoid drugs which are prescribed by Doctors only for secure acne when antibiotics and other measures have not helped.
Acne nearly always improves over a period of time, often clearing up by end of your teenage years.

Witchhazel is good for acne.
Another thing thats good for them is the small alcohol swabs [the ones you get when you have an injection] They're great for drying up spots.
