I saw sculpture of God Shiva , wich has 5 hands , isn't it strange ,
because even they do have an extra hands they should be in a pair .

We have many ways of representing what we consider to be Higher Forces and it usually involves being part human but with greater abilities than we possess.
It's like saying, 'I've got a great father or deity who can do all these wonderful things'.
They symbolise our need to be parented by some thing greater than ourselves for some reason.
